Demisexuality is a form of sexuality that occurs in individuals who typically only experience a sexual drive when they have a strong emotional bond with their partner. The term is often related to asexuality, which is a sexual orientation alongside heterosexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality.

According to some, demisexual people feel no primary sexual attraction (with regard to appearance), but only a secondary one, in which inner qualities play a much more important role.

At the international network for asexuals, the Asexual Visibility and Education Network (AVEN), the term demisexual is often used as a synonym for people who call themselves 'Gray-A' or 'Gray-asexual'. This group of people positions themselves somewhere between sexual and asexual.
