Flag of the Anglican Communion, Compass Rose

The first use of the Compass rose emblem of the Anglican Communion was occasioned by the convening in 1954 of “The First World Congress of the Anglican Communion” at the Cathedral Church of St. Mark, Minneapolis, Minnesota, as is memorialized in stone at the crossing of the cathedral. It was designed in that year for the Congress by Canon Edward N. West of the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York.

The Compass rose was modernized in 1988 and the new design was laid into the floor of Canterbury Cathedral during the Twelfth Lambeth Conference of Anglican bishops.

Flag of the Anglican Communion

Our flags are made of a transparent, polyester fabric with a very fine structure.

The fabric is weatherproof and can therefore be washed. Due to the open structure, the material has a high wind permeability. The material can therefore be used outside without it immediately getting damaged by the wind.

This material is only printed on one side. Due to the fine and open structure, the print pushes through on the back of the material. At least 98% of the print is reflected on the back in mirror image. So your print is clearly visible on both sides.

The flag can be used both indoors and outdoors. It has a fire safety certificate and is therefore also suitable for use in public spaces. The material is used as a banner, beach flag, banner flag, construction fence banner and gable flag.

The inks are not UV light resistant. Over time, the colours will fade in outdoor applications. However, this process will take longer than the lifespan of the material, so this should not be a problem.

Lifetime?: When used outdoors, this material lasts about 3-6 months. Do you want your flags for as long as possible? Then make sure you bring them inside on time, especially from wind force 6. This reduces the risk of damage and ensures the flag lasts longer.
